Scandinavia help

Hi all,
Can someone please direct me regarding my interest to Scandinavian countries? I am particularly keen on Norway, Sweden and Finland. WHich is the best way to get around between one country and the other? Does anyone know how long does the ferry take?

Thanks

Which ferry? There are many.

suggest youstart by reading the scandinavia section on this site and also on frommers. that will give you a good background to make some decisions and then you can ask specific questions.

To get good answere tell us how long you have to stay, what your interests are (art? history? outdoors? sailing?) and what your budget level is.

Hi again,
I am interested in sightseeing in these countries and plan to visit the capital cities only, spending about 3 or 4 days in each city. Accommodation is not a problem since I will be looking into budget hostels. I plan to fly to Helsinki and then, from there, I need to know the best way (and time required) to Stockholm and then from Stockholm to Oslo.
Please help. Thanks.

From Helsinki, you could take the overnight ferry to Stockholm. Departs around 5 or 5:30 p.m. and arrives in Stockholm around 9:00 a.m. There are two main lines: the Viking Line, which is only slightly cheaper than the Silja Line. Huge smorgasborgs on both lines, plenty of duty free shopping, and the cost for the rooms on board are minimal. While these boats are called ferries, they are huge hotels on water, and carry mostly locals going for the duty free stuff. We took the Silja line, and I have to say it was one of the highlights of our trip, not to mention the incredible scenery along the way.

You can either fly from Stockholm to Oslo or catch the train.

I really liked Anker Hostel in Norway. It has a central location and the rooms are bright and clean.

clovecleo: Looks as if you are looking for budget traveling. Consider the night train from Stockholm to Oslo. The trip is long, boring and night very pretty. So, you might as well use the time sleeping and save a night's hotel expense.

I think I read that there aren't night trains anymore on that route - just fast trains. But I could be wrong, so double-check.

Also, definitely post at www.eurotrip.com/forum - Don in particular can help with Scandinavia, as well as others, and it's a budget-oriented forum.
