Sardinia Honeymoon in Oct - too Late?
Hi,
We are considering a honeymoon in Sardinia and Italy for the 2nd and 3rd in Oct ('04). I was wondering how the weather would be that time of year.
We were considering Hawaii, but I would like to avoid the cliche and I am not sure I could handle 2 weeks of beaches. Sardinia sounds wonderful, but will it be too cold for swimming by Oct 9-23? What about other parts of Italy this time of year.
Cost is not as much of an issue - we are looking for a really great time - meaning some beaches, pampering, romantic, great food, a bit of culture. Give our dates would the greek isles be a better choice - or should we just keep to Hawaii??
Thanks!

The second half of October is a bit late for the major beach resorts of Sardinia: many are closed or in process of closing for the winter. You would need to check carefully with the particular resort in mind, to be certain that it will remain open that late in the season (and hope that the management won't change its mind and close prematurely). Sea temperatures may be cold for swimming, although the natural topography of the Island will still be very beautiful in the autumn period. Expect the resorts to be very lightly patronized (which could mean either great personalized service, or spotty service!!!!).
Sardinia is a wonderful tourist destination; it would be a shame to miss it because of the vicissitudes of the weather.
