wedding at Elbow Beach

We are considering 'eloping' to Bermuda sometime in Sept or Oct. We would be going for just a long weekend because our honeymoon is already planned for next May to St John. Elbow Beach sounds like it might be nice. Any advice? Is the weather still pretty warm in early October?

I'm just in the early stages of thinking about this idea....our other thought is to go to Bald Head Island in NC.

I think Bermuda is close in latitude to North Carolina. October will probably still be in the 70's, pleasant, but not necessarily great swimming weather. Wow, that's a long ways from wedding to honeymoon, but hey, why wait if you're happy.

Yes I realize there is a big gap between the wedding and honeymoon months but there are a number of reasons for us to not wait.

Another website showed many terrible reviews of Elbow Beach so I am rethinking my choice. Maybe The Reefs (but there might be a 5 night minimum?) or Pompano or Coco Reef.

Tuxedocat-true the latitude is close
to N.C. but----it is influenced by the Gulf Stream. I have been there many times in mid October, the water is in the high 70's--much warmer than going in late May. A wonderful month. Early October is very warm!

We have been in Oct and the water was warmer than mid May. If I went swimming, which I did, than it was warm. Outside of hurricane issues, October is a wonderful time to go. The Reefs is one of our fav places to go. They have an area that juts out into the ocean for weddings. It is very picturesque. The place will treat you like family and the food is great. I would go back in a heartbeat. I know they have a minimum, but if you call, maybe you can work out 4 nights.
