Sarajevo to Mostar - Driving Itinerary

Hi Fodorites,

Planning our road trip in BiH and figuring out the Sarajevo to Mostar leg of the journey. How does the following day sound? Tried to be generous with drive times (I use Furkot to plan out road trips and have this drive set at 80% speed), but please correct me if you think my times are off. We have 2 full days in Sarajevo leading up to this drive, and a full day in Mostar following this drive. I originally thought we would see the Tunnel of Hope during our two full days in Sarajevo, not realizing the location was a bit out of the way. Since its on the way to Mostar anyway, I put it here. If it's too much, we will just plan to visit the Tunnel while in Sarajevo and cut that out of the drive. What do you guys think?

9:00 Drive from Airbnb to Tunnel of Hope (30 minutes)
9:30 Tunnel of Hope (plan to spend ~1 hour)
10:30 Drive Sarajevo to Jablanica (1 hour 20 min)
12:00 Lunch in Jablanica, famous for their spit-grilled lamb. (plan to spend ~1.5 hour)
1:30 Drive Jablanica to Blagaj (1 hour)
2:30 Arrive Blagaj (plan to spend ~2 hours)
4:30 Blagaj to Mostar (30 minutes)
5:00 Arrive Mostar

Thanks!

I'm sorry I can't offer much useful information, except to say that 2 full days is actually not much for Sarajevo -- I wish I'd had more than the 2.5 days I gave it.

I just responded on your planning thread. One of the few places where info was not translated into English was the tunnel of hope. I was very glad we were with a guide who talked about his experiences and the tunnel. Can't help you with the drive as we took the train from Mostar to Sarajevo and the scenery was spectacular. I imagine you will see some of that from the valley view on your drive. There's never enough time in so many places, but you should be able to pack alot into 2 full days in Sarajevo. Lots of free walking tours and as I recommended take a tour for the war portion. If you have a nice day, the cable car offers fabulous views over the city. In the other direction, the yellow fort does the same. There is a cafe right near the fort where you can sit and have a drink and enjoy the views.
