Santorini - May
It's getting close to our May trip to Oia,Santorini and we are so excited. I am hosting a couple of day trips and would like some suggestions. There will be 10 of us and I want to hire a large vehicle WITH driver to visit a few places we would not be able to get to easily by bus? i e mailed a couple of companies advertising vans or similar, with drivers however never heard back. Any suggestions?
Also appreciate suggestions on where we should visit these 2 days (including any beaches worth stopping at).
We will be there for 7 nights in total so will be making our own way for other days.
Thanks as usual for all your help.

I don't know if this applies to your situation but sometimes your email server will 'read' emails from foreign countries as junkmail or spam and will filter them out. Try entering the email addresses to the companies you contacted into your email address book so they're allowed through.
Since you will have a car be sure to go down below Oia to Amoudi Bay for lunch at one of the fish tavernas on the wharf. My favorite is Katina's but there are 3 others. You can also do a circuit of the wineries. Drive to the south end of Santorini for a completely different perspective on the caldera. Mama Thira's Restaurant in Akrotiri is another good place to stop for lunch. Drive up above Kamari Beach to the trailhead for Ancient Thera and walk in 1/4 mile to the site.

We will definitely go to Amoudi Bay and Katina's. I thought we could walk (those of us who are fit and would enjoy the challenge) or take the bus to Amoudi from OIA? We are not renting a car but have hired a driver for a couple of days and will suggest we drive to the south end as you recommend. Sounds great..THANKS AGAIN

All I can tell you, lbbttn, is -- you know how to pick 'em! May is PERFECT, Oia is where you want to be, Santorini is heavenly!
Some of the clearest water I have ever snorkelled in - with a very large octopus one day! - and dolphins leaping offshore all the time. I am green with envy - do enjoy!

You are very lucky, we just left and it is a wonderful island.
We stayed in between Imerovigli and Oia on the cliffs. It was heaven.
A few tips:
If you are in Oia, rent a car, you will need it to explore the island. Better yet, get an ATV for a few days, loads of fun.
Bring bug spray, Santorini is loaded with bugs, Not wasps or anything that bite to much, its not a big deal, but bug spray will go a long way at night if you are out and about.
Luckys Souvlakis in Fira town, best Gyros hands down, cheap and great.
Nassou Restaurant in Fira Town - Best Moussaka, great Caesar Salad of all things.
Mamas Place - If you are a bit homesick and want some North American breaky this is your place, good traditional greek food too.
Nikolas- in Fira Town, good traditional greek food.
We ate mostly in Fira due to the low season. Santorini was a blast. have a great trip. Will still post a trip report.
