Santorini Caldera View
My wife and i are going to Greece for 10 nights in May. We are going to stay in Santorini from 5/19 to 5/23. I was ready to book a room at the Volcano View and then ended up reading some posts relative to rooms, villas, cave house, etc in Santorini. Now I am wondering if I have considered all options....cave house, etc.
We want to limit our spend b/w 125-150 euros per night. I am convinced that it makes sense to get a room with a view. I wonder if you folks could make a recommendation about:-
1) the area in Santorini to stay---such that we are not too far away in an isolated part of the island. We dont mind doing a little bit of travel on the island
2) a hotel with rooms that offer a great view. i am not expecting the comforts and decor of a place like alexandars, etc but a decent place with great views.
many thanks in advance
amit

I was working with a travel agent in Athens, and he suggested Tzekos Villas to my husband and I when we originally started our pricing. He said he had had many clients come back very happy from their stay there. Every room has a view and it's 140 E a night.

Tzekos Villas is a good choice but be prepared to walk up and down a lot of steps when going to and from the hotel and the rest of the village.

Fira is centrally located so it's probably the best choice for you since you don't want to be isolated. Also check Scirocco Apartments, Caldera Studios and Panorama Studios Hotel. Firostefani is also good, it's only a 15-minute walk from Fira. Check Villa Ilias, Mama Thira B&B, Villa Maria Damigou and Blue Dolphins Apartments.

I've heard of them but have never seen the property. I can tell from their website that there's no caldera view.
Here are some reviews: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev..._Cyclades.html
Here's a map that might help you orient yourself so you can find a hotel with a view: http://www.santorini-hotels.info/san...i-fira-map.htm
