Planning a trip to Greece in May. Planning on spending two days in Santorini with my boyfriend. Does anyone have any hotel suggestions? It would be great to have a caldera view either in the room or in a communal area. Most important is a nice atmosphere and good service... and of course, price. We're hoping to spend no more than $100 per night. Please help!

For €71 you don't have a lot of choices if you want the view. Check Hotel Mylos, Villa Maria Damigou, Blue Dolphins Apartments, Sunset Hotel, Stelios Rooms, Villa Kallisti and Thea Studios. I think that's it.

I would also add Kafieris Apartments ( http://www.santorini-hotels.info/san...Apartments.asp . It is located in Firostefani and it is suitable for a medium range budget. Firostefani is located close to Fira and you can even walk to Fira from there. There is a view to the volcano too!

We stayed in Kafieris last May ... yes it's very walkable to Fira. Be sure you specify that you want a clear caldera view .... if possible ask for one similar to that shown in the website. My friend got one of those. There are other balconies that have views of buildings, but are blocked by from a direct view of the caldera.

PS -- Kafieris also has a common roof terrace with a Jacuzzi ... however when we were there, 2 European couples had "taken possession" and did not make us feel at all welcome. Fortunately, we had met a nice couple on the ferry from Crete, and helped them locate a room just up the way... at Sunset Hotel. Gorgeous huge rooftop terrace with many cushioned chairs, settees ... so we enjoyed the sunsets from there. You might inquire about room rates & availability there. Also Hotel Remvi in Firostephani (but be aware; rooms there are v. small).
