Santorini and what other Island??
We are sold on Santorini for our vacation (thanks Bob the Navigator!!), but think we would like to spend 2 weeks instead of the 1 we had planned.
We are thinking that maybe 2 weeks on Santorini is too much (is it??) and perhaps we should spend 1 week there, and 1 week on another island.
We have read lots, but are only growing more confused.
Can anyone recommend another island with similar "flavor" and ambience - beautiful, with shops and restaurants but not overrun, and somewhat mellow - we do not want a "party" island, so much as one that will provide R&R, but also do not want one so undeveloped there is nothing around.
We want to wander the streets, soak in a beautiful sea view at the hotel we choose, eat out at good restaurants, and shop a little.
Beautiful white beaches would be a plus, but we don't intend to spend alot of time lying on a beach, so that is not a priority.

My 2 favorite islands are Santorini and Rhodes. Although I loved Santorini, I think you would be wise to see a second island in the time you have.
I like Rhodes for a number of reasons. First of all, the I like the Byzantine style architecture of Rhodes City, also the old town area of the city feels like you've stepped back in time to the middle ages. Rhodes City also has a casino if you are so inclined, but it's a lot quieter and more subdued than anything in Vegas. I am not someone who loves to shop, but I went nuts shopping in Rhodes as I found a lot of great deals on gold jewellry. From Rhodes City you can see the Turkish coastline, and you could do a day trip by ferry to Marmaris, Turkey.
Another beautiful town on that island is Lindos. Lindos has many whitewashed buildings with a backdrop of the crystal blue sea. When I go back to Rhodes someday, I'm not sure if I will stay in Rhodes City or Lindos, since both are so beautiful.
I spent 4 days in Rhodes and I did not see it as a party island. If that's not your thing, avoid Kos. Whatever you decide, have a great trip!!

I agree that 2 weeks is too long.
Crete is very close with good transport links. There is a resort near Chania, the name escapes me, that would be perfect. And, when done there you can fly direct back to Athens.

Hi,
I think Crete would be a great choice. There is so much to see there and then relax at the end of the day on the beach. Also look at Paros and then there is a small island, Folegandros. Do a google search for the Anemomilos on Folegandros. Where ever you go you will have a great time.
