Greek Islands

We have an additional day to add to our island itinerary (3 days Santorini, 4 days Crete).

Here are the options we are considering:
1. Add the day to either Santorini or Crete. Which one? Suggestions of what to do?
2. Take a day from Crete (so we have 3 days) and visit another island for 2 days. Any suggestions?
3. Do a day trip from Santorini to another island such as Ios.

Please help us decide what to do. Thank you so much for all your suggestions.

Haven't been to Crete so I can't comment, but loved Santorini, especially Oia at the end of the island unless you like nightclubs and lots of tourists from the cruise ships then go the Thera. I think 3 days in Santorini is about right unless you just want to chill, you could stay for weeks. Enjoy the Sunsets and the caldera, visit the archeological dig at the far south of the island.
Hope you get some more answers about the other places you're considering.

Whatever you do, don't add another island in the limited time you have -- you will barely do justice to Santorini and Crete with 3-4 days on each! Crete in particular is huge.

Matrexx - Personally I'd add another day to Crete. Anything less than 4 days would be too rushed IMO - you could easily fill 2 weeks there ...

Lots to do and see on Crete; I'd add another day there.

Certainly agree that Crete is large and interesting enough to add another day at least.

I suppose that by this day I have spent about two months alltogether in Crete. It is a big island with lots to do.

Either add a day to Crete or......go to Mykonos. I know many had commented that it is a "party" town. The answer is, yes it can be, but when we visited we didn't feel odd though we weren't nightlife people. The island it self has so much "buzz" and energy. It was nice....especially if you will be visiting Santorini. We thought it was a good mix, we went to Mykonos and Santorini. It was a lot of fun. Once we got to Santorini, we knew right away what people meant. Either way, you will have a great time, Greece is SOOOOOOOOOO beautiful!

Crete it should be! Samaria Gorge,Lutro, Heraklion, Hania, Agio Nikolaos, Lasiti Plateau... Santorini is too small to stay another day...

Okay, Crete it is then! So now we need to get down to reading about Crete to fill our days!

Thanks for your help in making this decision!
