Santa Caterina, advice?

I will be staying here in late September. Can anyone give me advice on where the best rooms are located (in terms of view and quiet). We have a deluxe double with seaview. Thanks!

I think you should ask for a room that is NOT in the main building. The main building is on the road. If your room were on the first or second floor above the lobby in the main building, your back or side window may face the road, which could be noisy. As I recall, there are a few rooms on the level below the lobby. These would be a bit quieter for street noise, and would be preferable if the annex below is not available.

If possible, ask for a room in the Villa Santa Caterina annex. This is a separate building of 2- stories built into the side of the hill and below the road. We stayed here and as I recall had a double deluxe room. The rooms are very quiet. The views from all parts of the hotel are great, IMO.

We loved the hotel, the staff was great. You can walk down hill to Amalfi in about 10 minutes and they also have a shuttle van to take you down. Lunch every day on the terrace above the pool is a must! Have a nice cold crisp white wine for me!

Wonderful hotel with an accommodating and cordial staff. Cicerone is right on about lunch on the terrace. Dinner is also wonderful overlooking Amalfi.

You must go to Ravello one day, take the bus from Amalfi, sit on the right side, but don't watch the driver( only one hand on the wheel).

Rooms 18-19 down the steps from the lobby are quiet, but slightly smaller than the ones on top floor. We have also stayed in 44, the bathroom had window facing the road, but if you closed bathroom door and hall door it was quiet. Enjoy, it's fabulous.

We were in Italy 2 summers ago and stayed at the Santa Caterina. Friends that had stayed at Le Sirenuse suggested that we stay there rather than in Positano, as they had. It turned out to be a great suggestion. We had one of the less expensive rooms in the main hotel and it was not noisy. We also had a view of the water from our balcony and bath. The staff is just wonderful! Would have thought we had
the best accomodations in the place from
the way we were treated. They made our train reservations back from Naples to Rome and had fabulous suggestions for dining. The driver that they arranged to pick us up in Naples and return us the the train station was very good and so much fun! It was money well spent.
Amalfi and the Santa Caterina were the highlights of our two week trip to Italy. Hope your trip goes well.

Thank you everyone for your comments and advice. Any other dinner recommendations besides the hotel? We will be there for 4 nites and probably want to eat dinner there once or twice at most (especially if we have lunch as well).

Hi DC
when you visit Ravello take a detour to Pontone and visit the Ristorante San Giovanni in Pontone,a hillside village across the valley from Ravello.Buses or taxis leave Ravello for Pontone.

Sounds like the same room I had there. It was about a 3 minute walk to the main building through walkways of flowers and lemons. Very quiet and UNBELIEVABLE view!
