San Sebastian & Bilbao..whats the cheapest option?
Hey all...
my family will be arriving to Madrid from NY, with plans on continuing on to SanSeb or Bilbao. Whats the cheapest and best timed option? I know vueling will have good fairs, but they're flight departs madrid at 6:30pm, which means they will be stuck in madrid for 8hrs. Does anyone have any better suggestions?
Thanks,
Sergey

Continental-Auto Motorcoaches from the Avda. de America Intercambiador will take you to Bilbao in under 6-hours. You may even get a Supra Service bus: seats 3-across, a single and a double, with a Steward (or Stewardess) on board and free drinks and periodicals. Non-stop service with restroom on board: at least comparable to Biz class.
Avda. de America Intercambiador is not far from Barajas airport. You can get there on the Metro changing at Mar de Cristal. If you make a reservation by phone they will usually hold it until 90-min before scheduled departure.
That's how we always go to the north shore: it also does wonders for jet lag.

Definitely! It'e where Avda de America becomes Autopista Barajas so it will be much cheaper than a taxi to downtown or Puerta de Atocha (Renfe). Bus Station is below Street level so you may have some steps to navigate.
Be sure the Taxista understands that you want to go to Avenida de America Bus Station!

Hi,
Fares to San Sebastian (Hondarrabia airport) are always very high. But I have flown to Bilbao in Spanair or Iberia sometimes at very good fares. They also have frequent flights between Mad and Bilbao. Did you already check their website for fares for your dates?

When it comes up, click on the UK Flag for English.
Unfortunately, the only 'Gran Clase' they list on their schedule is for evening runs; but even the standard Class is better than airline economy class. As I recall, they serve soft drinks and snacks free: beer or wine is available pretty cheap. The fare is around 24 Euro one way.
