Salerno....Nonship excursion ideas needed

We will be in the port of Salerno, Italy in early June. We prefer to do tours through locals not the cruise ship. The private trips are showing nearly $1000.00 for 8 hour trip for a couple. Can anyone recommend what to see in the area? If we do more than a town tour the prices are HIGH...as are the drive time. We will pay the price, but not sure what is worth the cost, as this is just a stop to us. Anyone that has been there and tours you would recommend...please.

Interested in going to a buffalo mozzarella farm, with tours and viewing of the cheese making process, and lunch? I wrote a report about my tour to Vannulo but there are others not far from there. Or do you want to go to Vietri for ceramics? Or just a scenic drive??

Google "Vineyard Le Vigne Diraito" It's just south of Salerno and we had a beautiful lunch there. They could probably arrange transportation for you.

We were there for two nights but used our one day to walk about town (didn't like it quite as much as some people here have) and to take a public bus to and from Paestum. It was rather easy and Paestum was wonderful.

A cheese farm stop sounds nice, but our point in stopping in Salerno was to see Paestum then take a ferry to Capri.

Paestum is awesome: https://www.google.com/search?q=paes...w=1280&bih=625

Easy to do on own too -just a short way south of Salerno.

Where else does the ship stop? Are there other stops along the Amalfi Coast? If not well then that would be the obvious choice. And Paestum. Have no idea what should cost $1000.
