My son did it,several years ago....WEll, he was getting over knee surgery, and was disappointed not to be able to, but he was THERE. He and 3 friends, all professional men in their late 20's went from LA to Barcelona,,then on to Pamplona. You just run through the side fenced streets of Palplona in front of lots of bulls...people screaming from the sides.,(sound a little silly to me, but it is a prestigous "festival".) Most do it for the thrill, and occasionally some people aren't fast enough, or they fall, but I don't think they lose their lives. It's a BIG event in Spain, once a year..and I thought it was around July 7! I'm pretty sure you can find out a LOT more doing a search on Google!

I have a male friend who ran all the way into the arena(complete with necktie etc) and a female friend who enjoyed the festivities from the sidelines. Neither was hurt at all -but people ARE sometimes gored and DO die.
A few years ago, there was a big "pile up" of people near the arena and many were crushed and killed.
It's a traditional event, but it's international popularity has certainly increased the risks. Too many people undertaking a very risky activity in too small a space.

I'm against blood sports, although a man in a ring with knives and a trapped bull is hardly much sport or competition.
Shooting is kinder as it kills the animal outright, taunting it like with fox hunting, bull-fighting etcetera is simply cruel and somewhat perverse.
I concur with others - good luck to the bulls!
