Le Monde has a nice photo of the trash in front of Le Flore

Just so people can't complain it's the American press who is "inflating" things as usual.

The strike isn't over yet, but the city is outsourcing to make sure the city is clean by tomorrow.
Personally, I have not seen any of this trash except on television since only half of the arrondissements are on strike. I live in the 18th and have only been going to the 1st and the 10th arrondissements which are all clean.

Enough arrondissements are on strike to be a bother imo. We had this last trip and the flying rats were horrible and I walked in the middle of our street and around the piles waiting for a big rat to emerge. It was very bad by the smaller grocery stores. Add to that the warm temps, ugh. Do some places just get private collectors to take it away?

No. France is a country where we always count on the authorities to find a solution.

No trash heaps in the 3rd or 4th arrondissements. Pickup is about one hour later than usual, that's all.
I think someone is trying to impress the soccer fans, so the trash is lying around longer on the Right Bank.

Anyone overly concerned about travelling to Paris in the midst of the public sector worker's strike?
