Anyone overly concerned about travelling to Paris in the midst of the public sector worker's strike?

Anyone overly concerned about travelling to Paris in the midst of the public sector worker's strike?
Just wondering how/if this recent event will affect travel plans. Apparently Air France flights between the US and France will not be disrupted, but there are lots of disruptions in flights within France and with the train and metro system. We're scheduled to leave Saturday for Paris and are wondering how this will affect the trip.

hi, <BR><BR>I live in paris, and as far as I know, it is a one-day strike (today). <BR><BR>Maybe I am wrong, though...we have so many strikes here that I can't keep track. It is nearly impossible to come without hitting one!<BR><BR>The good thing is that you almost always have at least a day's notice, so you can make plans to do something without having to take a train. <BR>best wishes!

Please don't spoil your trip because of the many strikes in France. Just be flexible and you will discover many wonders that you might not have seen. My concern it that I have to get from Dijon to Paris by train in May. Is there an alternate means in the trains are on strike?

I just got back last night (4/3) from Paris and the strike certainly did disrupt travel for many people trying to get to the airport who did not plan in advance. As far as I know, transatlantic flights were not disrupted, but I did just read on CNN that Lufthansa canceled some of its transatlantic flights. Make sure you have ground transportation lined up from the airport to your hotel. Taxis were in high demand and VERY short supply on Thursday for people trying to get to and from the airport.<BR><BR>However, as far as getting around while you are in the city, that can be a real problem if the metro is still on strike. Only a few bus lines were running and people were biking, roller blading and walking to work. Taxi lines were very long.<BR><BR>I can't imagine this strike will last long, although as of this afternoon it is still not settled, but is supposed to be settled very soon. Like Ita said, just be flexible and enjoy!!
