Rooms in Riomaggiore

I was in Cinque Terre last fall and would like to return next fall. While in Riomaggiore, I took the elevator up to the top and while walking along the cliffside, I noticed several little "cottages". Does anyone know if these are rentals? It looked like tourists staying there. Also, if you are down by the water on the main street - if you look to your right, there was a building that had a room with a little balcony and the people there were sitting having a glass of wine - such a perfect spot. Is this room a rental? Are there other places with similar charm to rent in Riomaggiore? I stayed in Manarola and while I loved it, I really enjoyed my time in Riomagg. Thanks

I will give you some info tomorrow that I have at home. I was recently there and I picked up a couple of property management cards in Rio. from offices on the main street. Maybe you could email them with this question. We stayed in Vernazza but I also thought that Riomaggiore looked like it would be nice to stay in.

Thanks Diane. It's hard to beat any of the towns, except maybe Monterrosa, which is a little too touristy for me. Riom. had a little more to do at night than Manarola. Where did you stay in Vernazza. Loved that little place at the end of the breakwater. Can't wait to go back to CT.

There's an elevator in Riomaggiore to take you to the top? I missed it, but for my next visit, where is the elevator?

You could call 'Villa Argentina' - Riomaggiore's largest hotel high on the hill with great views of the ocean. They have several villas and apts that can be reserved if you don't wish to stay in the 15-room hotel. Their telephone/fax is 011-39-0187-920-345 or you can email them with inquiries: [email protected] (Rooms range in price from 78E to 150E per night, dependent on what you want to rent and how many rooms)

I think the elevator was near the the top of the town by the railroad tracks -can't remember exactly, it's been a year, but it's great, it takes you up to the top of the hill and the view from there is wonderful.

Note to "xxx", the elevator is located just past the train station ticket office, as you are heading towards the tunnel underpass to go to the main street in Riomaggiore. The elevator is on your left side and costs 50c E to ride up to the top. It is open every day from 8 am until 7 pm, closed earlier on Sundays.

"Edi's Rooms" rented me the most adorable waterfront one bedroom apartment with that large "terrace window" for 64 euro/night. Exactly as pictured in my favorite Cinque Terre village Riomaggiore.

We stayed in Manarola this March, but noticed lots of rooms advertised in Riomaggiore by Edi. I think he has an email address.
Try http://homepage.sunrise.ch/homepage/avong/cinque_terre/
Kay

Susan: where was your apt.located? Does it sound like the one I described in my first post? Did you rent by the day or week? Did it have a kitchen. Can you tell I'm anxious to return.
