Rome to Procida - which train station
I am leaving in 2 weeks for Rome and then on to Procida and Ischia. Which train station do I get off in Naples to catch the ferry to Procida. Is it within walking distance to the port, or should I get a cab. How often do the ferries run? Really appreciate your help.

Can someone clarify please? If I take a train from Rome to Napoli, does the train stop at Napoli Main Station AND Napoli Mergellina? Is this true regardless of the type of train (Eurostar etc)? I had thought the train only goes to the main station in Napoli and I'd have to take a bus or cab to the ferry. Thanks!

No. Only about 5 Rome-Naples trains per day stop at Mergellina. For times see:
www.trenitalia.it

But if you're going to Procida, the most frequent service leaves from Molo Beverello. This is a short bus or taxi ride from Naples main station (Napoli Centrale).

Ferry/hydrofoil timetables are on

There are many more services from Molo Beverello to Procida. However, you will probably want to take a taxi from the Central Train Station, as the bus can be very crowded, and, in the chaos of the square in front of the Central Station, you may not want to linger to figure out which one to take. Services from Mergellina Dock are less frequent, but you can walk there from the Mergellina Train Station, 500 yards distant. Look at the hydrofoil and ferry schedules at www. procida.net to determine whether you could take a train which stops at the Mergellina Train Station to connect in time. If the connection times are not suitable, you're better getting off at the Central Train Station and from there taking a taxi to Molo Beverello.
