I am traveling to Rome on Christmas Day and will then travel to Paris on January 2nd. Does anyone have advice on the easiest way to get to Paris? It appears that to get an airfare under 500 euros one way, I will need to travel to either Naples or Milan and then fly to Paris. I have looked into the night train but I can't find out if I would have to pay for both berths in a double compartment. I am an older, female who is traveling solo and have never used couchettes before...only compartments. It's a 15 hour train trip so I don't think I want to spend an entire day on the train. Anyone know of the best way to get to Paris?
Also, will I run into any transportation issues leaving Rome on Jan 2? I don't see it as a holiday but I am not familiar with the transport systems in Italy, I only know that strikes are common. Last time I was there it happened but luckily did not effect my trip!

Also, has anyone stayed at either the Giuliana or the Domus Mea hotels in Rome?

Check the locations of the airports.

Paris Beauvais is some distance from Paris.

It is easier to get to Rome FCO than Ciampino.

What about train travel to Naples or Milan and then flying?

Or the night train? Any info on that?

Are you trying to get to Paris or looking for a travel experience?

I am traveling from Rome to Paris for the second leg of my trip. Train travel seems quite pricey for the length of time it takes to get there! I am concerned about the couchette situation on the train as I am single and would have to either leave my luggage or cart it with me to the wc.
I would like to be able to sleep on the train so it would be the compartment I think.
I really prefer to fly but volare web has no prices yet and ryanair goes to the little airport outside paris that I have read horror stories about.

You can take a cab from the airport to Paris and still save Money not to mention time.

If the URL doesn't work, go to http://www.france.com and click on the little Airfares button on the right side of your screen. When you do your search, be sure to click the One-Way button or you'll get a round trip fare.

On the same web site Alitalia offers a round trip fare for $184.40. You could purchase the round trip, go to Paris and throw away the rest of the ticket. Seems like an odd way to do business.

BTW, the France.com Airfare site has been a bit strange this weekend. You may have to hit your back button a time or two to get it going. Try it a few times because their fares are usually worth it.

Any idea what the cab faire is from that little airport Beauvais or something, to Paris, cause you're right. With the low fare on Ryanair even adding cab fare is still cheap. Just wondering what the fare might be?

Still, it's hard to believe that volareweb.com isn't the best choice.

There is a shuttle service connected to the Ryan Air flights, but separately run. Here's the info. We are doing the same flight -- Rome to to Paris on Sept. 16th.
