Rome in October

Could anyone tell me what it is like in Rome in October (middle)? We do not want high heat. What about September?

Take a look at weatherbase.com and worldclimate.com for historical average temps and rainfall. October would be better in terms of temperature, although mid to late September is still nice.

yes, when it comes to weather look at the historic trends and then hope for the best

I've been to Rome in very early October when daytime temps were about 80F and evenings were in the 60s. I had some drizzle one day.

I was in Rome this past mid October and the weather was wonderful. Light jacket or sweater was all we ever wore. No rain. I was mad at myself for not packing sandals. Would have liked them in Rome but as we headed north I probably wouldn't have used them.

I use weather.com for forcasts. Temps seem good in Oct, however, it also seems to be part of their rainy season. Not ideal for all the walking in Rome
Sep high-78F low-60F precip- 2.70 in

Oct H-71F L-53F prec- 3.70 in.

I went in October a couple of years ago, and temps ranged in the 70s every day. I wore jackets very little on our whole trip. We had very little rain for six days in Rome and none elsewhere for the other six days. Now of course, things do change from year to year. Personally, I loved Italy in mid October, but I would go in either late September or very early October to lessen the chances of much rain. I actually changed my plans from November to October and made a marvelous decision because it rained quite a bit in November.

We were in Rome early October, year before last. The weather was nearly perfect - clear, brilliantly sunny and in the low 70s. Of course, like any place, the weather is variable. September can be pretty warm.

We were in Rome in late September and early October. The weather was mostly gorgeous, temp in 70's and nice breezes. It did get a little chilly at night requiring a sweater. One day was rainy but not chilly.
