I will be in Rome for 3 nights with my husband and 9-year old daughter in mid-July. Looking for a hotel near Piazza di Spagna or Navona. Love the idea of a great roof terrace for breakfast and/or evening drinks. Also, need a triple room (sleeps 3 comfortably) or small suite. Any suggestions?

We stayed at the Colonna Palace a few years ago because it was recommended to us by friends who stayed there a few times. The location is great in a government piazza where no cars are allowed...and just a five minute walk to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona.

Both the room and the bathroom were quite large, and it had the most beautiful rooftop terrace for breakfast. We were lucky enough to have a warm, sunny Sunday morning in March which allowed us to sit outside for breakfast...when all the church bells bean ringing together, it was heavenly.

The Hotel San Carlo has a few triple rooms, and they're located near Piazza da Spagna. Breakfast, included in your room rate, can be taken in the breakfast room, on an outdoor terrace they've used in the summer, or delivered to your room for no additional charge.

A junior suite at the del Senato would fit the bill. (And the bill will be huge! Just kidding, but you don't mention your budget.)

Has anyone stayed at the Carriage Hotel near the Spanish Steps? It has a rooftop terrace and I've been eying it. Mixed reviews and not many of 'em on tripadvisor.com.

We did stay in the Hotel Campo de Fiore one time; it has a rooftop terrace but no meals are served there. Adequate hotel, small rooms.

Hotel Genio just at the corner of Piazza Navona has a nice rooftop terrace for an evening glass of wine--breakfast downstairs, though.

The Internazionale has a roof top terrace with a view of dome of St. Peter's. Breakfast is usually in a centrally located room. Last time we were there we had a room with a private terrace. Not really a view but a marvelous place to sit and relax while deciding what to see or do next (and we could get breakfast from the dining area and take it to our private terrace.)
