The Hotel Raphael - - http://www.venere.com/it/roma/raphael - - is four stars and they have been ruinning a rather attractive protional rate for stays of 3 days or 7 days for much of the fall into December; perhaps they will have something similar for first part of next year.

Oddly enough, 4* hotels seem to get less attention here in this forum that 5* or 3*. There are 89 4* hotels on http://www.venere.com/it/roma and there are not that many that get much mention here - - though a few do: Bailey's, Residenza Farnese, Londr & Cargill to name a few.

Best wishes,

Rex
Be aware the differences between Italian hotels bearing ratings of 3, 4 and 5 stars do not relate to how luxurious the hotel is, how large the rooms are or even necessarily room rates or location.

The stars are used as a means of identifying the number of amenities offered. Having a full-service restaurant, room service, parking or a gym/spa/pool can add stars but doesn't mean the hotel is any "nicer" than a 3-star otherwise equivalent hotel.

www.travel.it is a much better website than venere for Rome only. They have a tremendous amount of hotels listed in order of stars. They give you the direct contact to the hotels and not through Venere. You get a better price.

travel.it better than venere.com ? Surely you jest.

You must work there to make such a claim. There are 92 hotels listed for Rome on travel.it plus the Leonardini and Bettoja chains.

There are 715 properties listed for Rome on venere.com
Hi Susie.
The Hotel Genio is part of a chain of Italian Hotels called Leonardi.

Here's the link to the web site:

http://www.leonardihotels.com/Genio/index.html

My next door neighbor stayed there in May on his honeymoon & he & his wife raved about it. I walked past it last January & it looked really nice from the outside & the lobby. Also, there's a restaurant technically attached to it (it has a separate entrance outside, though) that a friend recommended to me.

Buon Viaggio,
BC
