Without knowing your budget...
We've stayed at the Nazionale e Montecitorio near the Pantheon and will there again on Friday (!) for three nights.
4*, nice hotel, great location, executive room we stayed in was very large, not sure if they would accommodate four people in the room but it is certainly large enough.
There are lots of reviews on rants and raves.

We were very comfortable at the Hotel Santa Maria in Trastevere. I just wrote a trip report on Rome (with 12 year olds). The neighborhood was lovely and the junior suite was comfortable, and reasonable. We got an off season rate, but you could also use a Rick Steeves discount.

We had two connecting rooms at the Capo D'Africa. It's near the Colliseum, so it's a little quieter. It's a residential neighborhood. But the accomodations are modern and only a couple of years old. We were there in March, but I am sure the air works!
Great breakfast buffet. My kids are 14 amd 9, but everybody was happy here.
