Rome apartment - Stelleta 2?

Has anyone stay there and have issues with check-in? We have reservation and found out upon receiving confirmation that check-in is at the office and not at the aparment. We wanted to find out if this is typical and if there's anything fishy about this since the total rental amount is due, and in cash only, upon check-in. Thank you.

I don't know that agency, so I can't comment on them. it is often true that the rent is due when you arrive, in cash. Lots of Italians only do business in cash, for tax reporting issues. I would find it inconvenient if I were arriving from a long plane flight and had to go to 2 addresses. Also, there should be someone who will show you the place, how things work, etc. Will they send someone to do that when you arrive?

What company is it?

I am assuming that Stelletta 2 is the name of the apartment, not the company, and that the flat is in via della Stelletta -- a wonderful location, IMO.

We often stay close to there, on the Lungotevere Marzio, just off Piazza Nicosia.

Thanks for the replies.
The reservation we got was through romecityapartments.com and we now feel a little bit better knowing that cash payment is the norm and that location is great!

We'll have to ask if someone will come to the apartment to show us the place and how things work...sort of a walk-through.

Follow up question....cost wise, what's the range for transport from FCO to via della Stelletta? Romecityapartments quoted us (party of 4 adults/1 child) EUR75...is that reasonable?

Oh, I know that apartment!

At one point someone from that company posted a couple of troll posts on Fodors.

I'm trying to remember the nature of his infraction: It was either blatant advertising OR he posed as a satisfied customer and recommended this apartment on multiple threads. I called him on it and he disappeared.

The apartment, however, looks very nice. If I recall aright, though, it is very high up -- perhaps 4th floor IE 5th floor US, w/ no lift???

Oh no....should we worry and find other alternative? Yes, it's 3rd floor/4th floor US with no lift.

Well, the apartment does look very nice. I had bookmarked it for a future stay. I was taken aback by the shenanigans on this forum.

If you want a good 2 bdrm counterpart to this apartment, check out Apartment Boccaccio on Rome Capital Apartments. A Fodors friend has stayed there with great satisfaction. Another Fodors friend has rented it for the Christmas period.

I have booked through that company 3 times and have no complaints with their office (though once their agent was 20 minutes late for a rendezvous at the rental apartment)

Taxis are set fees of 40€ for four people including luggage although a rate increase is in process. Don't know how much they would charge for the child.

Most limo services will be a bit cheaper than 75€. Rome Shuttle Limousine is 50€ for five people.

I have also used Rome Capital Apartments and absolutely loved them! They met me at the apartment and gave me a walk through and explained everything very well to us. We used their car service (I was to lazy to look up a different one) and it was 45 or 50 Euro for two people. I did NOT care for their car service though.
