Apartment through italyrents.com
Has anyone rented an apartment through the website italyrents.com? I found one for our stay in Rome that looks perfect, but I'm hoping some other traveler might have had some experience (good or bad) with this company. Thanks!

I have not heard of it- but that doesn´t mean it is not fine.
You could check on www.slowtrav.com as they have many reviews.

We rented an apartment in Rome at ItalyRents.com and when we reached our destination we found out that the apartment was occupied by another person! The owner said thaT we had only rented one room in a shared apartment! This is not at all what we rented and is not what they advertise in their website.
When we complained to ItalyRents they said that it was up to the apartment owner to decide how to manage it! They said that was internal working of the apartment and they did not have anything to do there!
COMPLETELY UNBELIEVABLE! They didn't even offer any kind of compensation. They are cheating people and taking advantage of the fact that you don't want to waste your vacation time in filing complaints and talking to the authorities. DO NOT EVER RENT AN APARTMENT AT ITALYRENTS.COM!

Hmm, they may be the one place I haven't heard of here in Rome.....When people visit me I often use Leisure in Rome and they've always been good to me. Plus they have English speaking staff, are pretty responsible, and actually are helpful if you report a problem.

I've never used Italy Rents but have actually only heard negative comments, if any at all. That's not to say I have actual experience with them of course. I've been happy using Leisure in Rome for my guests, and they've been happy too....and gotten some great deals. Happy hunting

First of all we would like to apologise for the owner's behaviour.
It is absolutely right that our client had rented the entire apartment and not just one room as the owner said.
It is completely unacceptable of the owner to have allowed another person in the apartment during our client's stay in it.
Unfortunately we did not know about these facts until our client went back home and told us about them.
If we had known about the problem during their stay we would have moved the clients to another apartment, but we were not informed until the stay was over.
Of course we do not want to work with owners like this and we have already removed that apartment from our web-site.
Even though money cannot make up completely for a problem like this we did send a reimbursement to the client.
Unfortunately, since we do not own the apartments we cannot control the owner's behaviour even when it is as stupid as in this case.
However, problems are rare and nothing like this had ever happened before.
Being aware of what happens in the apartments helps us avoid working with unreliable owners and it helps us provide better services, too.
