I agree that the location is terrific and the apartment looks great.

You did, I hope, notice that it is on the fourth floor (which in European usage means fifth floor in American usage; I'd suggest you check with the agency which language they are using) with NO elevator?

Thanks for the tip Eloise, no I did not realise that it could actually be on the 5th floor. I will check . I kept expecting something to be wrong ith it and this is it. I can cancel up to 30 days with no penalty so I will have to run it by the rest of the family. I dont know if 2, 40 somethings will be able to do this trek every day.The kids should have no problem. (11 and 15)

DOCK: If I were still a 40-something, I don't think I would let it deter me when everything else seems so good.

Also, they may well be speaking in American floors and not European ones.

You might find it a bit of a drag to hike up after a long day out enjoying Rome, but just think, you can then sit out on your terrace and have a glass of the wine that you have providently laid in for just that purpose.

Hi DOCK, even if the apartment is on what we here in the US would consider the fifth floor, unless either of you have any physical problems I don't think that you will have a problem.

I say that as a few years ago I stayed with Italian friends in Italy, in their house. They had the first two floors rented for commercial use. The next two floors were their living spaces. The fifth floor was their guest bedroom and bath which is of course what I was given. It was beautiful but I thought "oh no, five floors to climb.

Believe it or not, it was not a big problem. I don't imagine you two will be going back and forth to your apartment several times a day, will you? I would think you will maybe at the most be going back to the apartment maybe three times a day? BTW, it sure is good excersize. Seriously, after I got home I almost wished I had those stairs. Sure cheaper then a gym, LOL.

Have a wonderful time in Rome!

Thanks for the input. We are going to keep our booking as location and apartment appear great. Now, we just hope they do not cancel or switch on us at the last minute.

Did you wind up staying at Monserrato Attico Apt in Rome? And was it as nice as it looked on the web??
We're going in a few weeks and having a teenage daugher, would love the extra room!
