Chance to be in Rome Aug 20 to Aug 24, will museums, restaurants, shops, etc be open?

Question is in regards to public holiday August 15, Does it affect the next weekend?

Aug 15 is a Friday. Whatever happens on 8/15 will have no affect on what's open or closed Wed 8/20 - Sun 8/24.

Why would a public holiday date effect things a week later? Does that happen where you live?
