Romantic/Luxury Paris Left Bank Hotels -- 3 nights

Hello, we're getting away for 3 nights in June. The first time in Europe for me and my husband although we've both been there separately! We want to stay on Left Bank and are considering these hotels:
--Relais Christine
--Esprit St. Germain
--Le Placide
--L'Hotel
--Hotel Aubusson
--Hotel De L'Abbaye

Any thoughts? Gym a plus as is cool hangout lounge/bar.

We've stayed several times at Relais Christine. The location and ambience are hard to beat, but the room quality varies widely, and prices have increased dramatically in the last few years. As a result, we switched over to Hotel D'Aubusson for our stay last July, and loved it. It's basically around the corner from Relais Christine, so same great neighborhood, but it gives you more for your $$$, at least in the higher room categories, like the Grande Luxe apartments. We thought the room was really lovely, and that the staff and service were very good. Also, the hotel has a bar downstairs that features a jazz trio many nights each week. Not sure if there's a gym on site, but there used to a package which offered a jog along the Seine with the hotel's manager!

Thanks for the Aubusson feedback. The website looks strange/a bit cheesy? Is it as quaint as Relais Christine? Since dollar is so weak, any savings would be very helpful!

L'Hotel is by far the best of those you have listed. Great restaurant & bar almost make it worth the exorbitant rack rate. If you can get a decent discount, this is the place to stay. Don't forget to stop in at the great print/poster shop, Galerie Documents, on rue du Seine.

Don't go by the website, or any website for that matter! They are rarely accurate in terms of what the photos portray.

Hotel D'Aubusson is a small hotel, very similar in feel to Relais Christine, although Relais Christine has a nicer lobby and outer courtyard. If those things are important to you, you'll pay extra for them. As I posted earlier, the rooms ( I think) are much nicer than at Relais Christine and as of last summer, were somewhat to much cheaper.

L'Hotel only has the expensive rooms left! Staying there would be almost $1,000 more than at Aubusson. What website should I go to for Paris hotel deals?

Thinking now btw Hotel Aubusson, L'Hotel and Esprit St. Germain.

Thanks everyone!

My advice? Go with whichever hotel best fits your budget, and spend the rest on food. Your room won't matter much after a few glasses of great wine, anyway!

Before you decide, take a look at the It's a charming 3* only because it doesn't have 24-hour room service.

Hi -- take a look at what charming 3 star hotel? No name here?

Just found out that Aubusson and L'Abbaye are both booked.

That leaves:

--Relais Christine (inclined not to given reviews/weird rooms and price)
--Esprit St. Germain
--L'Hotel (they only have deluxe room so it's pricey but looks so romantic and special)
--Pavillion de la Reine

Help!

The Esprit St. Germain has a great location and is quite dramatic. However, not particularly "French". What about the Luxembourg Parc?

The Luxembourg looks so nice but we prefer a bit more modern, not sos tapestryish French decor.

Too many choices!! What to do?

The obsession continues, here is the update:

Le Placide -- executive room 23 square meters on 5th floor with small terrace, 370 Euros a night, no breakfast.

L'Hotel -- Deluxe room 640 Euros a night. or 2000 Euros

Esprit St. Germain
« Three Luxurious Nights in Paris »: for 1 or 2 persons, continental breakfasts included and round trip transfer offered from the airport or the train station

Deluxe room (one above superior) 1480 Euros. Like the free bar here too and lounge to hang out in!

Hotel du Petite Moulin Executive room (almost the largest) 300 Euro a night, breakfast extra at 15euro.

What to do??? All get good reviews with an occasional sour grape on TripAdvisor.

Just to add to your fun, Le Pavillion de la Reine is a fantastic hotel in one of my favorite neighborhoods ( the Marais). It's only a few steps away from the Places des Vosges, a gorgeous square full of excellent bistros, restaurants, art galleries, and outdoor entertainment in the summer months. Also a very short walk from the Picasso museum. Rooms can be small even by Parisian standards, but the neighborhood makes up for any lack there.

Good luck with your choice!
