Residence des Arts, Left Bank Paris

Has anyone stayed in this small hotel in the St. Germain area? I have a connecting suite & studio booked for a week in August for 3 ladies. Sounds roomy but is it convenient to steet cafes, etc?? I have previously stayed in the Grand Hotel de L'Univers which is prefect location but tiny rooms.

I stopped in there when they were first opening a few years ago and I picked up a brochure. It looks wonderful. And yes, the location is great, just a block or so from St. Michel and from the river. Also a couple blocks up to the busy intersection of Buci, Seine, and Dauphine.

We stayed there in 01 and loved it. The location is terrific, but I saw some disturbing posts on another travel web site and would like to hear if any one else has any recent experiences. We are scheduled to go back there in April.

Checking in to see if anyone has stayed here recently myself. I will send a post after we return in May.

This location is still very convinient but you need to be sure you are on the upper floors. The 1st room we were put in was right over the cafe and we didn't sleep for 2 nights til they changed our room. These first floor rooms are also smaller and shabby. The 3rd floor was nice and our 4th floor room from the first time we stayed there in 2001 was larger yet. By the way there is a little restaurant that was right across the little street - Au Jardin - a pleasant surprise. A great meal at a reasonable price. Not sure what will be open in August - but might be worth a try.
