Riviera to Paris by Train

What would be involved in doing this? Would you have to take a local train to Nice and change there to a TGV? Thanks.

You can do that, although I don't believe the TGV goes to Nice (think it terminates at Lyon). It does go from Marseilles/Paris now, however. Google for the French rail website.

I just contacted Rail Europe to inquire about the same thing. The TGV does go from Nice to Paris. I will be taking the 7:15 AM train from Nice and will arrive in Paris at 12:51 PM. So the trip is a little over 5 1/2 hours, I believe, unless there is a difference in time zones between the north and the south of France. Kismetchimera is very, very knowledgeable about France which is why I am questioning the 5 1/2 hour length of time that I calculated.

Thanks! Didn't think I'd get such quick responses. Guess we'll have to try for a later train than happy2travel's 7:15 [if we come from further than Nice}.

daph, I forgot to give you the toll free number for Rail Europe. You can use this number for inquiries and for reservations: 1(800)438-7245. They are open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM EST Mon.-Fri.

I hope that this additional information will help you.

Daph, I tried the scnf.com website for you. There is an 11:40am train (I happened to pick May 18)that taks 5 hrs. 40 mins to Paris. The TGV DOES go into Nice.
