Rialto Hotel

I stayed across the Grand Canal from the Rialto, at the Locanda Sturion. I had one of their two rooms on the Grand Canal (two large windows) for $175 per night, which I thought was a great deal. You might want to try them if the Rialto doesn't pan out for whatever reason. The Rialto quoted me higher rates than Sturion and my room there was delightful, as was the entire staff. Its only drawback is the 69 marble steps you have to climb to the hotel - but that was my excuse for a daily gelato!

Ask the the end room facing the canal,
even though the vaparetto stop is
right in front it is a good room
with 2 large windows in front and
2 more on the side street.
(Noise isn't bad, but I always
wear light earplugs anyway, when
I sleep in Europe)

We stayed at the Rialto 5 years ago. Pretty glass chandelier made in Venice and nice all tile bathroom with hairdryer. $30.00 extra per night for a view {which we didn't take, wish we had!] Weak link was the prepackaged rolls at breakfast in the crowded interior breakfast room.
