Return to US Covid test requirement

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...arting-june-12

So, the Covid test requirement to enter the US has been lifted starting June 12th.

Good news for all of us travelers. Bad news is that it’s only for 90 days.
Benefit to us on our July trip to Canadian Rockies, but our scheduled Safari to Africa in Sept. will see us right in the middle of the trip when it runs out. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that the 90 day deadline is pushed further out.

Do you think that this lift of testing will create even huger crowds in travel this summer? From what I see on livestream, the cities of Europe are crammed to over saturation of tourists.

Yes, I think more Americans will travel to Europe, and this will also mean an uptick in travel to the US. In particular, I would expect US destinations like major national parks to get even busier, and the demand for limited supply airplane seats to increase, along with prices...

IMO the 90d limit is simply a test for this 1st relaxation. I would fully expect the end of testng to continue.

Scotland didn't seem crowded 2 weeks ago. Didn't see too many (perhaps none) large Asian groups in Scotland. Planes were not always full. Financial situation is rocky - gas/car rental pries high. Travel industry sources are not always honest, IMO.

I am so glad. I just bought tele-health test kits to take with us but they would have taken up valuable luggage real estate space in our safari duffels. I still hope we don't get Covid but it will be nice not to have to test if we are feeling well.

Yes, on hungry onion (replacement for Chowhound) the Paris experts were saying less tourists in Paris because of no Asian tourists.

"I just bought tele-health test kits to take with us ..."

We used them our last day in Glasgow. It's a pretty interesting story, but you'll have to wait for the trip report for the details. Of course, by the time I finish it, tests will probably be required again.
