France Drops COVID Test Requirement
“Proof of vaccination will be sufficient to come to France no matter which country you are coming from, just as it was before the spread of the Omicron variant," the Prime Minister's office said in a statement.
The government also announced that from 28 February people would no longer be required to wear masks in public spaces like bars and restaurants, sports and leisure venues which currently require a vaccine pass.

Wait a second! Stu, the 6th paragraph of your attached rfi announcement, reads: However, those from orange-listed countries (incl UK and US) still require an essential reason to travel, and will need to show negative Covid test less than 48-hrs before travel and self-isolate upon arrival. WHAT?!?! Shall we assume this too will change quickly? Are we truly orange-listed?? Just restarting plans for late Sept-Oct for Belgium and France...... Fodorites, all pls share ongoing information on this point.

Amen Stu! The thorn is obtaining the Passe Sanitaire after arriving in France. I'm betting that the Pharmacies rebel when they see the mobs lined up for them! Or they might just do it the French way and just refuse to process them. If you can apply for a visa online, what not the bloody pass?
Hmm. The next surge is on the way in the fall. Bowing to the anti-vaxers will only increase the incidence of the disease. Don't throw away your masks folks!

Pharmacies and indeed making a lot of money, imagine 36€ to look at someone's vaccination record and issue a piece of paper, something they used to do for free.
With the booster now required, pass sanitaire has been, effectively, replaced by the pass vaccinal.

The pass sanitaire doesn't exist anymore -- it is the pass vaccinal now. The reason for the change of name is that the other pass permitted negative tests to validate it temporarily if the vaccinations were not complete. This is no longer possible and only vaccination get get you the pass.

Pass vaccinals are only available from a pharmacist.
No, and almost any pharmacist in Paris can do the same thing.

Thank you all for these updates, Stu, you'll be a month-plus ahead of us, so will continue to monitor this forum. We have our three Pfizer shots uploaded onto our digital health pass from medical center, but only two onto our digital CLEAR pass. Before our medical center did theirs, they offered complimentary CLEAR passes to all. But CLEAR now sells an "updated" plus version which we declined to purchase leaving EWR for SAN and OGG in December, as HI had their own forms to fill out. We'll see. And I still have to check Belgium's requirements.

I sure hope so. Got my Covid booster last week, so I don't mind complying with the requirement from a substantive standpoint, it's the red tape of getting the pass that worries me. Crossing my fingers that this is no longer an issue come mid-May.

The problem with all this speculation and hearsay is that someone is going to read and believe it. I have seen an occasional line at the CDG terminal 2 pharmacy (there are 3 at CDG), but it was not clear if people were attempting to obtain Anitgen tests for departure or a pharmacist's conversion of foreign vaccination records for French QR codes qualifying them for a pass vaccinal.
If the former, the Antigen test is easily done at almost any pharmacy in France for 25€ the day before going to the airport. A pass vaccinal would only be needed at CDG to board a subsequent TGV from there, but I understand that the SNCF will also accept US CDC cards for train access. Otherwise, there are hundreds of pharmacies in Paris that will issue QR codes from a US CDC vaccination record and there are no lines.
There is really no point in sensationalizing the process of getting a simple Antigen test or a pass vaccinal. It is just not a big deal.

Being based in Paris, of course, it is not a problem for you. But not being able to apply online, before we arrive is a giant hassle, one that you would not welcome if you had to apply for our California Pass, after you arrived.
Your info about the TGV/SNCF is inaccurate: their website has banner headlines requiring Passe Sanitaire for all non-EU visitors. No restaurants, museums, cultural centers etc will allow non-EU citizens entry without a PS...this is clearly outlined on your government's sites.
Whether people are standing in line for an rx, a bottle of shampoo or a PS, it's still a line, n'est-ce pas? Chance favors the prepared mind.
