In April we dined at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten's (20 Maximilian Str.) 'Hubertusstuben' restaurant and had a delicious meal w/2 glasses of wine, coffee and dessert for 38.90 euros.

Kam,

When you say "we", are you referring to 2 people for 39 Euros, or was it for a family, or just for yourself dining with friends.

39 Euros for such a meal sounds great.

Please let me know.

Thanks

Mark

I have the bill in front of me - it was dinner for 2. The decor is 'old hunting lodge'; the service was good; we had a full dinner with wine, dessert and coffee.
The menu can be found on the hotel's website at: http://www.berchtesgaden.com/vier-ja...en/english.htm

Just walk into the downtown pedestrian zone and check out the menus posted outside the many restaurants. I've NEVER had a bad meal anywhere in Germany.

Kam,

Thanks for that info. I'll be sure to check the restaurant out in September. 8 of us will be in Berchtesgaden for 3 nights. I am very pleased to hear that a meal can be had so inexpensively.

When I was putting this trip together in March, the Euro was costing about 85 cents. It has gotten 15% higher in the last 4 months. I am hoping to save anywhere I can. It sounds like we will be eating at this Hotel.

I've eaten at a few different restaurants in Berchtesgaden in years past. One restaurant I particularly like is the Golden Bear. I remember sitting there with friends until 10:30 one night, on their outside patio, drinking beer, eating food and watching the sun disappear behind the Alps. It was so beautiful.

Thanks for the info

Mark:
I'm Canadian so I can certainly understand the annoying currency fluctuations. Currencies never fail (esp. the British pound) to rise substantially in cost after my airfare is booked.
Have a great vacation - Berchtesgaden was a highlight of my trip.
