Best lunch deals in Paris restaurants-advice?
I have heard that in Paris as in many cities, lunch in a good restaurant is much more affordable and often a better "deal."
Are there any restaurants in particular that are good lunch deals? Thanks.

I think the comment simply reflects the fact that many (many!) restaurants have a "prix fixe" menu for lunch and for dinner. The lunch version may have fewer choices and will be less expensive than the dinner version. It isn't that any particular place has a "deal". A lot of people who want to eat where the chef is well-known but don't want to spend the full-out dinner cost, will go there for the lunch choices. Same chef, same cooking, less money.

I understand that some of the very best lunch deals are at some of the three star restaurants. For example, Taillevant, where dinner can reach as high as 2-300$ US, they offer a 70 euro per person lunch deal Same for Pierre Gagnaire.

I wouldn't call them 'deals' either. I think in almost all restaurants (not fast food) assuming the lunch menu is different from the dinner menu, the lunch offerings are less expensive than the dinner offerings.
I think the suggested amount of money estimated above for dinner at Taillevent is lowballing it.So in that sense, the lunch version would be comparably a good deal, although the prix fixe is likely to end up more with wine, water, or other extras.

Just a note of correction to my earlier post. We went to Taillevant intent on having the 70 euro lunch. Guess that special is over. The least expensive menu was 140--still a very good deal for the food and the ambiance-and the bragging rights.

Once you add in wine, tax and tip, yes. That's pretty much what you're up to. But it is a wonderful meal with possibly the best service you'll ever encounter. It all depends on where you place your values--but that's a whole nother discussion

Well it's only $200 for one then..sounds a lot better, right? I was asking cause I will be there next month and was considering doing a solo lunch or dinner there. Dinner always appeals to me more since it does not bite into the whole day like a wine-fueled lunch and if there is no longer a lunch "deal" then why not do dinner if one wants to do Taillevent?
