Restaurants in Athens
We will be leaving for Greece in just over a month..Our first night is in Athens and we are staying at Hotel Attolas...Could anyone recommend a reasonably priced restaurant or something fun to do (other than bars)in that area...We have 1 night at the beginning...spending 6 nites in Santorini, and then 1 night in Athens at the end..Any suggestions as to what we shouldn't miss in Athens would be appreciated..Thanks.

From the Hotel Attalos, turn right out the door, walk towards the Acropolis and you will soon be in the Plaka. There you will find many very nice outdoor restaurants and fun shopping to occupy your time. The desk clerk at the Attalos will give you a small tourist map to help guide you on your way.

I do not know how much it is per night as we booked a package through Fanstasy Travel..The package price was reasonable..
And thanks for the info brotherleelove, it is nice to know that we don't have to go far after the long flight!!

some thing different that is good and relaxing in Plaka is to see a movie. At Kydatheneon is Cine Pari which is open-air rooftop cinema with films usually in English language but subtitle in Greek. you can watch movie, drink wine and view Acropoli at same time!
If you wish Greek music clubs let me know here and I will write you some addressess.

We enjoyed Taverna Thespis a couple years, enough to go twice within 7 days. It's tucked on a small, hilly side street in Plaka (address: Odos Thespidos 18). Fresh simple delicious food, a bit of an Acropolis view, and not at all touristy.
Many of those plaka restaurants have shills or barkers to hustle you in, absolutely none of that at Taverna Thespis.

O'Platanos was one of our favorites. It's close to the Ancient Agora.
You can get the address and read about it at the URL below. There are some mixed reviews, but we found the food wonderful, a great value for the money, the atmosphere really captured the Plaka and it was not at all dirty. Check it out if you have the chance.

I stayed at Hotel Attalos in 2001. We were also in Santorini, my favorite Greek island. My web site has the list of restaurants that Tony and I dined in as well as other information that may help you. Have a great time!
