Restaurant recommendation for Milan

Hi

I'm going to Milan next month for a half marathon and I think we need to celebrate after the race with a good meal. Do you have any recommendations for a nice fine dining restaurant that focus on Italian food or local Milanese food? I have been to Milan a couple of times before and I know that a lot of restaurants can serve very good food but I think we need something special this time to celebrate the achievement ;-)

Regards

We've been here twice- love it and definitely for especial evening
Antico Ristorante Boeucc
Piazza Belgioioso 2, Scala
€€€
Reservations essential

Having opened in 1696, Boeucc has the honour of being Milan's oldest restaurant. It is not far from La Scala, and offers a truly authentic Milanese dining experience complemented by warm and attentive service amid classic decor. The ambience is almost a meal in itself, while the cuisine is traditionally Milanese offset by imaginative twists.

Boeucc is marvelous for risotto and old world atmosphere but it is wildly expensive and incredibly formal. You will be treated like royalty no matter how you dress, but it would be quite a splurge for a group of very hungry people. But if you really want "fine" dining, no matter the cost, then that is a good place to go for traditional Milanese food.

I am sorry I cannot offer a substitute because when I go to Milan I like to eat all the food I can't normally get where I live in Italy (sushi and vegetarian food, or the cuisines of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, etc). or I just do as many Milanese do -- which is snack at bars. But having a good risotto in Milan can be a lot of fun and maybe this list has something for you.

Thanks for the list Sandralist. We will try the one in the Navigli when we are there next month.

Al Mercanti. It's frequented by locals, you can dine inside or outside, and it isn't wildly expensive. Make reservations.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a booking at Il Brellin for one of the days already and I look forward to checking out the risotto there

Can't help with fancy but places we really enjoyed: Luini near the Galleria and across the street at Ciccolat. Pizzeria La Tradizionale in Naviglio
