Restaurant inSantorini for 15 Anniversary
Hello:
Staying at the Hotel Kavalari in mid June, can anyone recommend a real nice romantic restaurant overlooking the ocean close to the hotel. Aw we're there for a minimum of three nights other moderately priced establishments would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know how it relates to the Hotel Kavalari, but since the hotel is in Fira, I can't imagine that Selene is all that far away.
I remember it fondly, and if you check out Selene on Destinations (Greece; Cyclades; Restaurants; Fira) here on fodors.com, you will see that it gets an excellent review from Fodors and a high rating from someone who has eaten there.

My wife and I took a pre-marriage honeymoon on Santorini in 2001. My wife says that the most romantic place she has ever had dinner was in a restaurant at the bottom of the cliffs below Oia. There are about three restaurants side by side. You eat at the waters edge with the little fishing boats moored in the water in front of you. She also says it was the best fish she has ever had. Probably because of the atmosphere. We had dinner at night and the little harbor was beautiful. The restaurants are not much to look at, but the setting is unforgettable. Taxis will take you there. I think the area is called Amoudi. There is also a hotel there by that name which may also have a restaurant. I would go directly to the dock and pick any of the restaurants.

Katina's at Amoudi has been there at least since the '80's when it was nothing more than a small cookshack withoutdoor tables, serving fresh fish, tzadziki, watermelon, fried potatoes and soda pop. Great after a day of sun and fun!

Ditto for Katinas at Amoudi. I was there in 6/2001 with my husband and two kids - it was probably the most enjoyable meal while in Greece. The view, atmosphere, food and service were fantastic. Cannot wait to get back there in 2006.
