1864 Sea Captain Table vs. Ambrosia

How does the 1864 Sea Captain Table compare to Ambrosia restaurant.

Restaurants in Oia, Santorini (?)

Ate at Ambrosia , but not 1864.

Expensive even by USA standards -- IIRC, dinner for 2 with wine was over 100 euro back in 2006 ($138+ today).

Nice meal, but very pricey.

IMO, had a better overall value and experience with terrace dining at Skala taverna, with nice caldera view.

As far as I know there is no actual on-site restaurant at the 1864 Sea Captain's House hotel, but they are affiliated with both the Ambrosia and the Ambrosia & Nectar Restaurants in Oia. This is a quote from the hotel's website:

"For Special Occasions - the chef from Ambrosia & Nectar can prepare a private dinner at the House. Pre booking required."

If you have a link to information about a new restaurant there please share it.

Skala is a mid-priced restaurant in the heart of the village, not far from Ambrosia. The food is very good.
The Anemomilos Restaurant is connected to the Anemomilos Hotel on the outskirts of Oia on the road back towards Fira. The food is very good, traditional Greek cuisine. Nothing fancy, just good food.

Another very good restaurant is Kastro, at the top of the steps that go down to Amoudi.

Upon reviewing my own notes, I apparently confused the "1800 Restaurant" in Oia with Original Poster's reference to "1864 Sea Captain Table".

At any rate, I have not dined at either of them
