Requesting monetary compensation for late Italo train
Hi everyone,
Our train from Florence to Venice was delayed more than 120 minutes and were given vouchers worth 45 EUR. However, when I tried to request monetary compensation instead on Italo's site, they asked for a tax code/vat number/vat number CEE and the SWIFT code of my bank account. I'd rather not receive the compensation via wire as my bank charges $16 for incoming transfers. Does anyone know if Italo could credit the amount bank to my credit card I originally used when purchasing the tickets?

Not Italo -- but EuroStar London to Brussels with a similar situation - I had a very long delay and got the same sort of request for tax code etc . . . I contacted them by e-mail to explain I'm from the US and would like the credit to my visa card. And they had no problems - the credit showed up in less than 5 days. So I'd definitely try e-mailing them (or phone if they provide a contact number)

No - just thinking it can be done at any Italo train station -just take a quick look at ticket lines? Seems it may be the most viable option of all! Maybe save for friend going later - how long is voucher good for - maybe use it next year.
Actually contacting your credit card issuers and contesting the charge can work even after you've done the transaction just in cases like this.

The OP obviously does not live in Italy OR -- so hanging around a train station is possible how?

This is not a situation where a credit card dispute is relevant. They received the service.

That's where the credit card comes in - i think you could have a case that what you were promised was not delivered - an on-time train.
Sounds like to me they just may have taken that train and are still in Italy - how do you know they are not?
