Request Hotel reccos in Rome, Florence and Milan for a family of 4
My family (wife and two kids aged 12 & 10) are planning a trip to Italy beginning June 20th.
We are planning to arrive in Rome on the 9th, spend four nights there, go to Florence (spend two nights), then on to Milan where we spend 1 night and catch our flight back on the 16th.
Appreciate if you could recommend hotels/pensions/apartments in these places - preferably with family/triple/quadruple rooms and within say Euro 150-200 per night.
We usually do not spend too much time in the hotel, so what we are looking for is a clean room with ensuite, in a safe area.
Thanks a lot in advance....JK

Hotel Europa in Florence has inexpensive quad rooms, an empty mini-fridge in each room, and is very centrally located. If you plan on coming in much later than midnight, this isn't the place to stay as it's family run and the owner locks the gate and goes to bed after midnight.
The rooms are very basic at Europa but adequate. They have an expensive, very good cappacino and espresso machine in the breakfast room. I prefer Hotel Casci right across the street as there's no curfew and a tiny bar area but I'm not sure if they have quad rooms.

Ilglicine ( http://www.ilglicine.net/)
manages apartments in several Rome locations. My wife knows a family (father, mother, two teen age daughters) who stayed in Ilglicine's Campo de' Fiori apartment last year, and liked it very much.

I do not know what the current rates are, but we stayed at the Hotel Miami in Rome with our children. The quad room we had was huge. There were two twin beds in one area, then a somewhat separate bedroom (wall, but no door) with a queen size bed. Very nice hotel, and within walking distance of everything. I would definitely return!

For Rome, I would recommend a quad room at the Hotel San Carlo. Location is outstanding, near a good Metro stop as well as several taxi stands.

In Florence we've stayed at Hotel Villa Belvdere a few times with our daughter and love this place. You can check it out at www.villa-belvedere.com

I think venere.com has a search option for quad rooms -- I'd just search for an airport hotel around Malpensa if your flight is early. If it doesn't leave until late afternoon, then maybe you'll have time to check out Milan. I stayed at the Antares Rubens in Milan where they had suites -- I believe the couch in those rooms was a fold out bed (if your kids aren't picky) but I'm not entirely sure.
