Renting car Europe
Ive read the strings of renting a car in europe. we wanted to rent a car from london(skipping our connecting flight to munich)and drive to munich via brussels and luxembourg.....but the autoeurope lists the price over $200 USD a day, as does a few other sites! is this right??? Would a train be equal or is splurging on a car worth it? ORRR Should we just stick to Bavaria as our original trip plan? we fly in and out of munich and have 7 days.

If you hire a car in London and return it to London, that is OK. If you hire a car in London and return it in Munich, then someone has to drive that car to London and then fly back to Munich. That is what you would be paying for.
You can get a cheap Ryanair flight from London Stansted airport to Munich, pick up a car there and take some trips.

For just 7 days, I would recommend just sticking to Munich. There are plenty of things to see and do in a week. Also try Sixt rental cars. Several years ago we got a great price for a BMW 3 series diesel wagon.
Leave Brussels & Lux for another trip to see the Benelux area. Besides, it's a very long drive from London to Brussels to Munich. You'll just be doing a "drive by shooting."

Most UK car rental agencies won;t let you take a car to the continent at all, since you would be driving on the "wrong" side for the controls and in an unfamiliar car - a recipe for higher accident risk.
Unless you're driving around England a car in London is not only useless but an expensive pain in the butt. If you want to drive around England rent a car thre, drop it and train to the continent. Pick up another car in Brussels for the drive to Munich (assume you'll be making seeral stops on the way). Often if the countries are contiguous there is a much smaller - or no drop off charge.
Separately, don;t know what kind of ticket you have - but if the London to Munich leg is part of a larger ticket and you don;t show up the airline will cancel the return portion of your ticket - since you were a no show.

Great help! thank you! i knew it sounded too good to be true to think about a budget friendly drive through those countries. i think we'll stick to bavaria(as we are flying in and out of munich) and rent a car in germany for 3 or so days to experience getting lost in some remote towns.
