Rental in Rome Apartment

Hi,
Just back from a 4 week wonderful vacation in Italy. Our accommodations of which we did on the internet all turned out to be fantastic except for the apartment rental in Rome. We booked through rentalinrome and we were extremely disappointed with our accommodation. Both bathrooms were in need of a good clean, mirrors dirty, mold around the shower and air conditioning that didn't work for 3 days, furniture is old and needs to be replaced. The location is great right on the Via Condotti. The balcony is too small to sit on and if you stretch you could see the Spanish Steps. We tried to reach our contact person however her cell phone was turned off after we arrived and we couldn't reach her for 2 days to register our complaints. I just felt a need to inform others to be wary when using rentalinrome and unless major changes occur at the Condotti Balcony Apartment I would steer clear of that apartment. I will write later about the rest of our holiday and the fantastic places we stayed and the wonderful people we met.

Maureen-
What a bummer! I remember you mentioning this apartment in one of my posts before you left as I am also (still) looking for a 2 bedroom apartment in Rome.
I've heard both good and bad regarding rentalinrome, but now I'm thinking it's more bad than good.
Looking forward to your trip report.

Krista,
I had a 2 bedroom apartment in Rome. In the Spanish Steps are - (a few blocks away from Via Condotti). It was "okay".

The air in the living room area did not work and that was to be the air for the second bedroom. We were lucky - it was very cool at night so my daughters were okay.

The beds were hard as rocks.

A perk for us is that it is right by a musical school - and every morning we had lovely oprea music, piano and other amazing sounds floating into our apartment...one night they had a concert that was simply divine.

Maureen, I was really sorry to hear about your horrible experience with rentalinrome. I am currently using them for some rentals in Sept.of this year. I have 3 apartments rented with them for myself and family members. Of course from the pictures the apaartmetns look great, new and clean . Now i am wondering. Hopefully your experience is not typical of this agency. I must say that i found that the agent i ws working with seemed somewhat disorganized and confused as to when and what type of apartments we needed. I definitely will let all of you fodorites know how these apartments work out. I am now keeping my fingers crossed.

We rented with Rentalinrome last spring and had a great experience! Our apartment was spacious with lots of sunlite coming in and access to a patio on the roof with wonderful views over the rooftops. It was painted all white and seemed very clean to me. It was a short walk from Campo de Fiori. The only draw back was it was on the 4th (5th) floor with no elevator. We were sure fit by the end of our stay! Our friends stayed across the river in Trastevere, also renting from Rentalinrome. There place was OK, but in a not so nice bldg & the apt itself was rather cluttered. You could tell that someone actually lived there part of the year. I think they must contract with lots of private owners so the properties can be very different. I am planning a return trip next spring and have already contacted them for accomodations.

I am looking for a 2 bedroom also. It would be most helpful if anyone who stayed in a nice 2 bedroom apt and had a good experience if you could be specific as to the name and what agency you used. I am always skeptical about what you see in pictures. I'd rather get first hand advice.

We have booked with rentalinrome for Sept, also near Campo dei Fiori. The booking has gone well- hope the stay goes well.

Yeah, reading around they don't seem to have the most psositive fo reputations.

A review like this one seems quite typical..

Though, others I'm sure have had better experiences.

We are using Rental In Rome this October and Sonya has been very responsive to all my many questions promptly. We are renting a two bedsroom and bathroom apartment with two terraces on Viccolo della Volpe near Piazza Novona. I will let you all know how it works out when we return.
