apartment in Trastevere, Rome

Hello, everyone! My mother and I are planning a trip to Italy in October and I had my heart set on one of the Really Rome apartments in the Trastevere area of Rome. Unfortunately, they are not available. I'm looking for any ideas for something similar in a quiet area. Your ideas are appreciated! KNoel

Thanks for the replys! After looking around, I believe we have decided to stay at "Jewel of Trastevere" apartment. If anyone has stayed there, I'd like to hear about it! KNoel

We rented an apartment in the Jewish ghetto area which right across the Tiber from Trastevere from Real Rome. It is a 2 BR and up several flights of stairs so might not be what you are looking for. The neighborhood is fascinating, very centrally located and relatively quiet (there was a party right downstairs from us Saturday night, and people out on the streets over the weekend, but I think you would find that anywhere)
It is the apartment labelled Portico Reginella in the Real rome listings. If you want more info about this apartment (pros and cons) let me know.

We just stayed at an apartment through sleepinitaly.com. It was on via natale del grande in Trastevere. We really liked the location. It was a one bedroom, however. I would recommend the agency. They were very responsive to all my emails. We had no problems.

We rented a 2 bed apartment through sleepinitaly.com -Vicolo del Cinque. It was in an amazing street in Trastevere & great value, opposite a little supermarkets & a great restuarant, Il Duce.

You can read my full review of the Jewel of Trastevere on SlowTrav or do a search on Fodor's and TripAdvisor for other postings I have made on this apartment and neighborhood. You likely may have already, so what do you want to know? I remember it warmly everyday.
The apartment Opaldog refers to is just down the street from the Jewel. Via Natale del Grande is a lively shopping street that serves this wonderful neighborhood. The Jewel is in a quieter location. Real Rome (and Tim Pearson) is a great agency. Paula, the owner of the Jewel, is a jewel.

Normano, I based my final decision on your wonderful review on SlowTrav, so I'm expecting great things! I'm dealing directly with Paula, and just e-mailed her back after she confirmed that the flat is available on our dates to ask her how to send the 25% deposit. I did forget to ask her if she lives in the building? Since Rome is our first stop on our trip, we may need a little "orientation" every now and then! We are so excited about our trip! Kathrine

You're doing the right thing. We stayed at an apartment in Trastevere last summer. The best foreign neighborhood I have ever stayed in. During the day you can shop in the neighborhood shops for wine, cheese, fruits, cookie, etc., and rub shoulders with the mothers and grandmothers. At night the restaurants and bars open up and you can party with the young hipsters. It's a great walking neighborhood, with a maze of streets and small squares. Have a drink at the Bar Calliste. Cheers

I am glad you were able to find a good apartment in Trastevere for your stay. One night when you are there you should be sure to walk across the Isola Tiberina (pedestrian bridges) and have dinner at one of the restaurants in the Jewish ghetto area. The Portico of Octavia and Teatro di marcello are illuminated at night.

Also, there is a good thread from earlier this year called Public Transportation from Trastevere

If you post your email, I can contact you about the apartment.

You can also check out this report from someone who also rented the apartment and took pictures
