Rental Apartment in Paris
I am thinking about taking my family to Paris at Christmas time. There would be 9 adults and one baby. Has anyone ever rented an apartment or house in Paris? Does anyone know of a site where I can find rental houses and/or apartments in Paris? Has anyone done this and if so what was the experience like? Thanks

My family rented an apartment Christmas 2003--it was a great experience.
If you do a search here for "Paris apartments," you will find a number of recommended agencies and/or individual owners (through vrbo.com etc.). Also check slowtrav.com for individual apartment reviews in Paris.
Without knowing your budget, it's difficult to recommend a particular place. Also, for 9 adults I might go for renting 2 places in proximity of each other.
Best of luck. Christmas in Paris is great!

I've rented a couple apartments, as well as many others on here (lots of threads which should be fairly easy to find in a search).
However, you aren't trying to get an apartment for 10 people are you? I don't think that will be possible.

Well, just to be contrary
there's this one:

but I'm thinking it's probably VERY expensive what with the pool and all. I do think it would be easier to let a couple of places.

I have had great luck in renting vacation rentals in paris BUT BEWARE aparishomes.com.
Don't ruin your vacation in lovely Paris by renting from these BAD LANDLORDS.
The bad landlady is Elisabeth Ban. She acts very nice but is cutthroat.
She kept my $350 deposit for no reason. She assured me that I would receive my deposit if I left the place clean - I did - they approved. They said they would return my deposit after renting it out during the remainder of the term (I wanted out of there as soon as the taxi dropped me off! BAD Neighborhood). They did rent it and still no deposit returned! I even had a written agreement from them.
Plus to add to all of this:
1) The apartment was in a seedy neighborhood. The flat itself is very nice but I did not feel safe going out at night. There were no nice cafes or shops nearby. You see lots of boarded up or closed businesses. 4 blocks away it is nice (which is what they photographed on their website as the neighborhood).
The other apartment in Republique that they offered was also in a charmless neighborhood. Very seedy side street. Shops are all import/export warehouse type businesses. Republique Flat is nice but neighborhood is not.
2) Flat is next to an elementary school. Very loud in the early morning.
3)They offer no service since they do not live in Paris. My first day in Paris I had to cut my day short to show the apartment. I was 15 minutes late (the metro took longer than I thought) and the landlord blamed me. I am ruining my vacation to help them and they blame me!
4) There was an electrical problem - fuse blew. No fault of mine but there was a problem with the system. I had no lights in living room, tv or phone for 3 days. Again I had to wait for the electrician - No landlord to take care of it. Electrician did not show up for 2 of our appointments. The electrician stated it was nothing I did but Elisabeth again blamed me! I am a landlady myself and I know whats what.
They are very slick and fake. There are so many nice places with nice landlords. Do not trust these - they lie! They do not post negative comments and comments posted are not about this apartment or . If any thing goes wrong these people make you pay.
I do recommend Lionel Miranda-Bamond. Nicest landlord, great locations for his studios. search for him on abritel.com/holiday.

I found my ideal one through this, though I'm only going in Sept so can't give you much of a proved verdict yet.
Good luck!

Try Welcome2France.com
We rented in spring 2004 and had an excellent experience. Laurent was our contact person and could not have been more accommodating. Best of luck to you...Paris is wonderful and an apartment makes the stay even more enjoyable.

Check out www.vrbo.com for Paris - they have an option whereby you can sort the listings by the number of people that can be accommodated. Properties 17751, 55814 and 41014 sound like they might meet your needs.

Hi design...we stayed at Louvre I, I believe. It was great...2 bedrooms, 2 baths, plenty of "french" windows. Right across the street from the Bank of France, so not a "charming" street, but very close to all that are!

I answered in your other thread but I'm reposting my reply here:
Check out the Slow Travel website for rental and agency recommendations.
Althought it was only for 2 people, the agency with whom I booked tended to own buildings with several appartment rentals in the same building or an adjacent building. I had a very happy experience with them, and if it fits your budget, you might find renting two or even 3 apartments right next to each other is even better than one rental. You can check our their offerings here:
