Renfe Tickets at Barajas Airport?

Hello,
I will be arriving in Madrid on a Friday, and need to buy a train ticket to Malaga for the following Sunday.
Does anyone know if there is a Renfe ticket desk at Barajas Airport in Madrid? Should I buy my ticket in advance or risk buying it on the same day I plan to travel?
Thank you.

Matisse,
Yes, that's where I pick up my own Renfe tickets. When exiting door 1 in the International Terminal, take a right. The Renfe counter is next to the Replay news stand.

If arriving in Madrid on Friday, you should be save in buying your Sun. ticket to Malaga at the airport upon arrival.

Matisse,
If you plan on taking the Talgo down to Malaga, to be on the absolute safe side, you could purchase your ticket on Ticknet at the Renfe site, www.renfe.es, then pick it up at Barajas. But to pick up your ticket, you aboslutely must bring with you and show the agent the same credit card you used for your online purchase.

Thank you Maribel!
Would you happen to know if Renfe offers student fares? I have my university ID, but not an official Int'l Student ID card.
The website says I can only purchase those special fares at the ticket office, not online.
Appreciate it!

Matisse,
Sorry I can't answer that question! You might ask it and get a reliable response on the All Spain Message Boards of
www.madridman.com or
www.multimadrid.com

Hi Matisse,

I have called Renfe, and they have told me that there might have a discount with an International Student Id Card (not your university card). They have special prices in the web for holders of the Carnet Joven, but you must live in Spain if you want to get it.

Good luck, Cova

I wasn't able to buy discounted student tickets at the train station and I had an Int'l Student Id Card. I think you may need to buy at a special agency.

A couple of small points that I learned recently. When you register on the RENFE.es site it asks you for a national identity card number and your postal code. It will not accept letters in either field. I just left them out and it worked. The other is that the ticket office at the Madrid airport opens at 8 AM (at least on Good Friday).
