Relais du Louvre room

My wife and I are trying to decide on whether or not to book this hotel. Can anyone tell me about the 145 euro standard room? Is it comfortable, overly small? How's the view facing the street? Loud? What about the bathrooms? Any info greatly appreciated.

Another Fodorite, suziec, has stayed at the Relais du Louvre recently and loves the hotel alot.

From what I've learned the hotel's rooms are known to be quite small. Maybe if you reserve a superior double than the standard double it would be a lot better for space.

The street should not be noisy although it is close to the Samaritaine dept. store up the street. It depends on what the hotel tells you about the particular room you are reserving as to the specific view. Some face the church. And the bathrooms from description seem to be clean and modern.

Hopefully suziec will respond to your post.

It has been two years since we've stayed at this hotel, but did recommend it to friends who were there recently. The standard rooms are indeed small but still have room for desk and chair. They are comfortably furnished and bright.

The street itself is fairly quiet and the standard rooms are on the front facing the street with a view of a lovely church and, if you stick your head out of the window, the Louvre. I prefer the street view of the standard rooms over the courtyard views of the superior rooms.

The bathrooms are large and modern, most with lots of marble.

Our friends who were there this year were happy with their stay and found the staff very pleasant and helpful.

YAAAAAY! Someone else can go there and come back and recommend it! You'll love it! It is in a very old building and yes the rooms are small, but not so small that you have to go outside to change your mind! Plenty of space to dress and spread out your "stuff"...very comfortable! Nice bathrooms. My room was inside the block, so extraordinarly quiet...after the debacle I had in St. Severin area, the quiet was very much appreciated. My view was the chimney pots of the old block..and I liked it!
Be around the hotel at about 1 or 2:00 in the afternoon... the church immediately across the street,(St. Germaine des Auxerrois..."the Kings church when the Louvre was the castle and your view) has a carillon (bell) concert...
