Is everyone but me getting an email response when you're registering?

Put ours in this morning, but never got a verification email from Fodors.
System won't let me use the email address to create a new login, so I guess it took, but then it also tells me it has no listing when I try to login or use the "forgot password" function. (I didn't, but I figure maybe I could confirm they had me on file that way).

Of course, everyone else is working fine, right?

To all you pedantic, contolling whiners out there who have brought this about with your incessant tattling to fodors' editors -- I certainly hope you will be happy with your new and improved board. It will be a real sleeper: much less traffic, more cliques and pompacity than ever, truly witty humor will take a permanent holiday - what's left will get stale real fast. I tend to agree that this site has become less enjoyable over the last couple of years - but not because of the "nasty", "mean-spirited" or "rude" people some posters fixate on. It's because I no longer can relate to or enjoy the bulk of the travel questions posed here. Don't read more into this than is here -- but it has become a women's board, and many of them are quite shallow. Sorry, that's how I feel. So, I've been looking for a good jumping-off point anyway and this looks like a good one. Arrivederci all.

(I know: "Don't let the door ...blah blah blah)

Question for John Q, how have the threads become womanized? What would men ask differently? Where to hunt for food for the family back in the caves?

There are some threads that would appeal to women such as those regarding hair dryers, but men use them too.

Is it the perfume question that is bothering you? Are you married by the way? I hope not for wifey's sake.
I do hope that registration is not a deterrent to people trying out the site. I always get bugged by the registration prompts at sites when you just want to take a peek/check it out.
That was very welcoming here at Fodors. Just start asking questions or making comments. Not a whole lot of red tape.
That's the only downside I see.
I registered, and I'll hope for the best - I just hope it's not the beginning of the end of what makes this board unique. Too many of the registration-required boards on the web have become kaffee klatches for a small clique. What was great about Fodors was that drop-ins could post a spontaneous question. I often posted under my "name," but I will admit to being xxx once in a while. With some questions regarding specific itinerary, budget, etc, I really did not wish to disclose my "board identity." Oh well, the times they are a changin...

"In Like Flint" is the name of a movie starring the late James Coburn, which was a sequel to "Our Man Flint" - these movies, made in the late 60's, were spy movie spoofs. I always assumed that the title "In Like Flint" was a wordplay on the phrase "In like Flynn", which became popular in the early1940s.

As for not having e-mail addresses show up, if a person wants to exchange e-mails they can just put it in the body of the post or respond to a request for it by adding it to a later post.

I assume that you are the same person who registered as springinparis2003 on the differentgrouptravelagenda Yahoo! group today also.

You should invite others!

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/differentgrouptravelagenda/join
The above exchange between Rex and Uncle Sam proves my point. Although 180 degrees from US politically, he's perfectly right in this instance to be incensed. And this is only shades of what's to come, with all Rex, all the time. Too bad, but this is the second stage of an already dying board.

John Q, what do have against women? Without 'em, you wouldn't be here.
