Recommended Tours/Tour Companys in Rome, Tuscany, and Venice

My husband and I are traveling to Italy in September, hitting the road from Rome to Venice. Does anyone have any good recommendations of tours to take? We'd like to do a wine tour that would allow us to see some countryside, towns, maybe a bike tour, as well as some other tours in or around each city, but there are so many options! We don't speak Italian, so we need guides in English. Any good or bad experiences/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

We were in Italy Fall 2004 and while in Florence used a company called "The Accidental Tourist". We drove to the countryside, did some wine and olive oil tasting then had a lovely lunch in the home of a local Italian. Prior to the lunch, some of us walked by grape groves, up and down hills observing beautiful vistas, some took a cooking class and some just hung around the grounds of the home drinking wine and chatting.

Their website is www.accidentaltourist.com

They were recommened by the experts on this site and did not dissapoint. It truly was a highlight of our trip.

In Rome we used Through Eternity Tours and for the Vatican, Colisseum and Forum - absolutely superb.

Their website is www.througheternity.com

I wish I were going again soon.

Enjoy your trip.

Linda

Linda, Did you do the private tours with Through Eternity Tours? How long was each of your tours in Rome? I am thinking of using them next summer. Thankyou Jim

For Tuscany tours, you can't go wrong with Luca Garrapa of www.hillsandroads.com He'll make recommendations, follow your itinerary, etc. He's based just outside of Siena.

There is a company in Rome that does both walkinging tours of the Vatican, Colosseum, etc as well as organized wine tours to the Castelli Romani region with an english speaking car and driver. The wineries offer a tour of the grounds, tastings, and even a full lunch. www.wheninrometours.com.
Ciao!

We used http://www.vaticantoursinc.com/index_.php for several tours and were very happy. In Parma we used www.parmagolosa.it which was fantastic.

In Tuscany we really enjoyed the wine tour with Rebecca from tuscan-wine-tours.com and would recommend her to anyone - who enjoys wine, of course!
