Reasonable St. Germaine des Pres hotel with air conditioning

We are going to Paris in August (I know, I know - but you go when you can) and would love to be in the 6th/St. Germaine area with air conditioning. Have always stayed in the Hotel du Danube . . . but it is not air conditioned.

Check Hotel Bonaparte. 124E for a double. Definitely air-conditioned. Nice area. Very near St. Sulpice.

Will the Bonaparte reserve by phone or only by fax? I keep reading that they don't respond to their e-mails. We were going to book the Bonaparte this year, but found another hotel instead. I still have it on my list for the future, though.

Sandy, I were communicating with the Bonaparte over the past two weeks. They responded very promptly to e-mails and were always so nice and friendly - patiently answering all my questions!

Hi B.

The Bonaparte is where we always stay when in Paris.

Hi S,

Now that Madam has retired to the South of France, they have cleared out the quill pens and learned how to use the computer.

Ira,

Have you read the most recent review of the Bonaparte on TripAdvisor?

It mentions you by name <G>

Actually, Ira, I just (also) read the review from our former long-time poster Elaine who apparently defected to Frommers who didn't like the place...hope that's not why she left here!

chiarachiara,
Thanks very much! I'll keep that in mind for our next trip to Paris, as I was swayed by the comments of people who sent e-mails and didn't hear back. Maybe that was when they were just getting used to dealing with the computer, and now, as Ira jests, they've learned to deal with it

We stayed at Hotel La Perle..air conditiioned all year.
We really liked this hotel.

Some hotels we have been at say they are airconditioned, but the ac is not turned on except at certain times of the year. You need to check this out.

This is our third trip to the 6th and we are trying Citadines St Germain.

The Bonaparte staff is very polite and is interested in making your stay enjoyable. My husband and I along with 2 other couples stayed there for a week this past September. We had 3 rooms on the 5th floor. All were lovely, truly the nicest I've seen for the money in the 9 different European countries I've visited.

Having stayed at he Danube in their large double rooms I would think I'd be disappointed in the "smaller"rooms of Boneparte. Large size rooms with a/c in the 6th are available at the Manoir St.Germ with breakfast also...and a cute breakfast room to boot///which I understand the Boneparte doesn't have. Can't imagine 2 people eating breakfast in a tiny room.

The Hotel des Deux Continents (also on Rue Jacob) has air conditioning in some of the rooms.

I stay at the Millesime. The D'Aubbusson is also nice but expensive.

Bigal, the couple of room photos I've seen of H.Bonaparte both have a table w/2 chairs...most people could manage to have breakfast I think...

Thanks Dukey,

I think Elain said it best in her review, "maybe I’m just not cut out for two-stars".

Hi BA,

>a cute breakfast room ...which I understand the Boneparte doesn't have. Can't imagine 2 people eating breakfast in a tiny room.

A. The Bonaparte does have a breakfast room. It is off the lobby on the ground floor.

B. Most folks prefer to have their bkfst brought to the room. It is placed on the table, usually at the window, and is quite sufficient for the number of people in the room.

C. The rooms aren't "tiny".
