Ramada Mount Royal: very noisy ??

I read some messages about this hotel.
It's close to all atractions but I'm afraid to the city traffic noise on weekend.
What do you think?
Thanks.

I have not stayed in this hotel, but I am very familiar with its fantastic location in Edinburgh. I believe the windows are double-glazed which helps with the noise. Have you checked the reviews on tripadvisor.com?

Did somebody tell you it was "very noisy?" I didn't notice any noise at all on 4th floor front. It's a fantastic location.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of August 2005-Monday thru Wednesday. Our room faced Princes Street a few floors up. I remember some noise, but nothing that kept me from getting to sleep. Closing the windows seemed to do the trick. Loud street noise keeps me awake, but I didn't have that problem here.
I agree with the previous posters-the hotel is in a fantastic location and our room had a great view of Edinburgh Castle!

Yes, Barbara, I checked the reviews and some people love this hotel. On the other hand, I read comments about its noisy.
I think that I can't believe in everything. What about you?

vaniawong, Oh I agree. You have to take all those reviews with a little pinch of salt, but I think they give some guidance.

I just posted a recommendation for this hotel on another thread.

I was on the 4th or 5th floor, facing the street. During the day, lots of city buses and tour buses. This occurs mostly at the time when you shouldn't be in your hotel. Make sure you have a room facing Princes street.

Yes, you can hear some of the noise, but it's not intrusive. At night, everything quiets down and the view of old Edinburgh is beautiful.

To tour the old city, take a cheap cab ride up to the Castle. From there the Royal Mile is all downhill, lazy person that I am.

Check out the camera obscura for some interesting viewing of the Castle area. Even go on the hokey Hisory of Whisky tour (Disneylandesque).

Have some haggis, the wild haggis (don't forget to buy your haggis whistle) is a very elusive creature.
